Q4

What must I provide now and what can I make provision for later?

There are several criteria which specify what needs to be in place now, there are others which require provision for future adaptations to the home. Generally the items which make a home accessible are required to be in place. The items that make the home adaptable must also be in place, however the adaptations themselves do not.

For example: From the outset doors should have clear opening widths as per standard 6. The shower provision in standard 10 means that there should be drainage provision for a future shower. It does not mean that one has to install a sloping floor or a waterproof finish.
